Practical Support
& Resource Navigation
You don't need to know exactly where you're going.
Sometimes you just need someone to help you figure out the next step.
Life can become overwhelming for reasons that aren't always solved by talking about how we feel. Sometimes the problem is much more practical: you know you need help, but you don't know what help exists, who to call, what you're eligible for, or where you're supposed to start.
Navigating community services, government programs, healthcare, education, housing, financial supports, and other systems can be confusing - especially when you're already dealing with stress, illness, financial uncertainty, major life changes, or an unsafe situation.
You don't have to figure all of that out by yourself.

Practical Support & Resource Navigation gives you a place to bring the questions that don't always fit neatly into therapy. Maybe you want to apply for university but have no idea where to begin. Maybe your health has changed and you're trying to understand what financial supports might be available. Maybe you're considering leaving an abusive relationship and need to understand your options for housing, safety, and community support.
Working with a Registered Social Worker can help you make sense of your options, identify resources that fit your circumstances, work through applications and next steps, and create a plan that feels manageable.
Sometimes support looks like…
-
Finding community programs or services you didn't know existed
-
Understanding funding or financial-support options
-
Navigating housing or shelter resources
-
Exploring education or employment options
-
Working through applications and paperwork
-
Connecting with healthcare or social services
-
Safety planning and accessing domestic violence resources
-
Advocating for yourself within complicated systems
-
Breaking an overwhelming situation into smaller, achievable steps
You don't need to arrive with the right questions or already know what kind of help you need.

Part of resource navigation is figuring that out together.

Sometimes one appointment may be enough to point you in the right direction. Other situations may benefit from ongoing support while you work through several steps. The goal isn't to take over or make decisions for you - it's to help you understand your options, reduce some of the overwhelm, and support you in moving forward.

Is Practical Support & Resource Navigation therapy?
No. While both services are supportive and collaborative, they have different focuses. Therapy generally focuses on emotional processing, mental health, patterns, relationships, trauma, and healing. Practical Support & Resource Navigation focuses on addressing real world needs - understanding systems, accessing resources, completing applications, exploring options, and determining practical next steps.
Some clients may benefit from one service, while others may choose to access both.
Sometimes finding balance isn't about learning how to carry more.
It's about finding the right support so you don't have to carry everything alone.
You may not know exactly what comes next, and that's okay.
We can start with where you are, figure out what you need, and take it one step at a time.
